Every October, credit unions around the globe set aside a day to celebrate what makes them unique: a “people-first” philosophy that puts members and communities at the heart of everything we do. This year marks the 77th anniversary of International Credit Union Day®, observed on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Why do more than 411 million people worldwide choose credit unions? Because credit unions aren’t owned by shareholders, we’re owned by you, our members. That means your success is our success, and our mission is to provide financial services that improve lives, strengthen families, and build stronger communities.
At Texan Sky Credit Union, this mission is deeply rooted in our history. Founded in 1940 by refinery employees in Moore County, we’ve grown from a small employee credit union to a thriving cooperative serving people across the Texas Panhandle and beyond. Through every chapter of our story, whether it was expanding services, embracing new technology, or rebranding to Texan Sky, we’ve stayed committed to one simple truth: we exist to serve our members.
International Credit Union Day is more than a celebration, it’s a reminder that our local efforts are part of a worldwide movement that values cooperation, empowerment, and community impact.
We invite you to stop by Texan Sky on October 16 and celebrate with your fellow member-owners. Together, we honor our past, embrace our future, and continue building a stronger community, right here at home and across the world.
